Clinical Social Work Practice – Mustang Magic Equine Therapy Services
Mustang Magic Equine Therapy Services is based in Bend, Oregon, and integrates equine-assisted psychotherapy with traditional talk therapy for individuals, families, couples, and groups. The practice is founded and directed by Annette Pelletier, LCSW, licensed in Oregon and Utah since 2016, with experience in the helping professions dating to 1998.
Pelletier holds certifications across multiple specialized areas: Choice Theory and Reality Therapy through the William Glasser Institute, EMDR training through the EMDR Institute covering Parts 1 and 2, Phase 1 Brainspotting, Trauma-Focused Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Equine-Connected EMDR through the Natural Lifemanship Institute, Certified Adventure Therapist designation through the Association for Experiential Education, and Equine Facilitator training through Touched By a Horse. A Gestalt Equine Coaching certification is currently in progress. Clinical modalities include trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, brainspotting, Gestalt therapy, reality therapy, and motivational interviewing. The primary clinical specialty is adults with histories of trauma.
The practice maintains a herd of six horses used in equine-assisted sessions: Kiva, a five-year-old Mustang mare adopted from a wild horse sanctuary; Apache, a five-year-old Mustang gelding; Neptune, a fifteen-year-old Arabian/Paint cross rescued from a kill pen; Kaz, an eighteen-year-old Arabian; Scooter, a nineteen-year-old Quarter Horse/Arabian cross; and Tillie, a six-year-old mini pony also rescued from a kill pen.
Adventure therapy activities offered at the practice include geocaching, fire building, archery, and ropes challenges. The clinical team also includes Jenn Wass, MSW Intern from Boise State University graduating August 2026, who offers individual and family therapy sessions at no cost through that date. Administrative support is provided by Brianna Harris.
Sessions are delivered in-person only at the Bend, Oregon location. Insurance plans accepted include Aetna, Regence/BCBS, Optum/United Healthcare/GEHA, PacificSource/OHP, and Providence. Superbills are provided for clients who carry out-of-network plans and wish to seek reimbursement independently.
