Expressive Arts Therapy KC LLC is a Kansas City-based psychotherapy practice specializing in integrative and experiential approaches to trauma-focused treatment. The practice is led by Julia Vering, MSW, LCSW, LSCSW, who also holds credentials as an EMDR Certified Therapist and Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT). Vering earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Kansas in 2008 and brings 17 years of post-masters clinical experience. She became the first REAT in Kansas and the Kansas City metro area in 2023, completed EMDR Certification in 2024, and obtained Somatic Embodiment and Regulation Strategies Level 3 certification in 2025.

Services offered include integrative psychotherapy using experiential techniques, expressive arts therapy incorporating art, music, writing, storytelling, movement, and drama, EMDR consultation, REAT supervision, and expressive arts groups. The practice focuses on trauma treatment, grief, loss, and complex emotional patterns described as unhealed emotional wounds. Vering also facilitates expressive arts groups in nursing facilities and provides hospice services through Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.

Individual psychotherapy is currently subject to a waitlist. Prospective clients can request to be added to the waitlist through the practice’s website.
