Counseling Center – Hope & Thrive Counseling

Hope & Thrive Counseling operates three office locations across Washington State: Bellingham at 1151 Ellis Street, Suite 201; Lynden at 8850 Bender Road, Suite 201; and Mount Vernon at 2114 Riverside Drive, Suite 204. The practice provides client-centered therapy for individuals, couples, and families, with secure telehealth counseling also available across Washington.

The clinical team is led by Amanda Shannon, Owner and Clinical Supervisor, whose specialties include depression, anxiety, trauma, postpartum concerns, autism, brainspotting, and Christian counseling. Other clinicians include Natalie Bettger, who offers anxiety, depression, trauma, sex therapy, EMDR, and Christian counseling; Shayna Adelstein, Lead Clinician, focusing on anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, and teens and young adults; Lea Huizenga, covering depression, grief, family and relationship issues, substance use, and Christian counseling; Jenna Cochrane, addressing grief, relationship concerns, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and couples counseling; Rebecca Cunningham, specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relationships, family conflict, brainspotting, and Christian counseling; Svetlana Kovalenko, working with children and teens on grief, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and life transitions; and Nicole Ervin, serving clients with anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, chronic and terminal illness, and grief and loss. Jocelyn Moore serves as Office Manager and Billing Specialist.

Therapeutic approaches available across the practice include Brainspotting, EMDR, sex therapy, and Christian counseling. Collectively, specialty areas span anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, autism, eating disorders, grief and loss, relationship and marriage concerns, perinatal issues, chronic and terminal illness, children and teens, and substance use. The range of specialties reflects the breadth a multi-clinician practice can address.

Session formats include in-person appointments at all three Washington locations and secure telehealth sessions statewide. The practice accepts health insurance and also offers sliding scale fees and cash payment options. Note that couples and marriage counseling cannot be billed to insurance.
