Marriage & Family Therapy – James Family Counseling
Benjamin James, M.A., LMFT, leads James Family Counseling, a licensed marriage and family therapy practice based in Indianapolis, Indiana. James earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Southern Wesleyan University in 2005 and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2010, with clinical counseling experience spanning from that year onward. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing was added to the practice’s therapeutic toolkit in 2023 following specialized training in that approach.
The practice addresses a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, parenting challenges, attachment issues, adjustment disorder, family conflict, emotional disturbance, divorce, infidelity, and men’s issues. James holds a particular clinical interest in working with Christian families and ministry families, and in providing support for men around sexual integrity concerns, helping clients fulfill meaningful roles as sons, husbands, and fathers at various life stages.
Treatment modalities available at James Family Counseling include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), emotionally focused therapy, family systems approaches, motivational interviewing, Christian counseling, solution-focused brief therapy, and strength-based methods. Services are provided for individuals and families, with treatment plans shaped around each client’s specific presenting concerns.
Both in-person appointments at the Indianapolis location and telehealth sessions are available for clients across Indiana and beyond. Individual sessions run 45 to 50 minutes at a rate of $150 per session, with online payment accepted. The practice is currently accepting new clients. A secure client portal is available for scheduling and case management functions; this portal is not intended for emergency contact or crisis situations. Clients experiencing immediate danger or a medical emergency are directed to contact 911 rather than use the portal.
