Mental Health Practice – Joyful Mind Psychiatry & Therapy Services
Joyful Mind Psychiatry & Therapy Services is located at 315 6th Street, Suite 100, Ames, Iowa 50010, providing both psychiatric and counseling services through a multidisciplinary clinical team. The practice operates Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, by appointment only. The practice is owned and operated by Dr. Kristen Myers, Ph.D, MPH, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of nursing experience. Dr. Myers conducts diagnostic psychiatric evaluations, medication management, individual psychotherapy, and ADHD assessments, and uses GeneSight pharmacogenetic testing to assist with medication selection. She serves clients ages 5 through adult for conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, C-PTSD, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder.
Lori Hikiji, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT), specializes in play therapy for children and teens and also provides counseling support for parents. Sophie Francksen holds a provisional T-LMHC license and an Art Therapist credential (ATR-P), and works with clients ages 13 and older experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and trauma; her approach integrates talk therapy with creative and artistic modalities and she is supervised by Tami Hunter, LISW, RPT-S. Amanda Thill serves as the Licensed Practical Nurse on staff, and Aubrey Bantaculo provides administrative support for the practice.
Insurance plans accepted include Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Magellan, and Wellmark. The practice does not accept Medicare or Medicaid. Out-of-network and private self-pay options are also available for clients whose plans are not in-network. All sessions are conducted in-person at the Ames office location at 315 6th Street, Suite 100. The multidisciplinary team structure allows clients to access psychiatric evaluation and medication management alongside counseling and specialty services such as play therapy and art therapy within a single coordinated practice setting.
