Psychology Practice – Elisabeth W Brown Psy.D.

Elisabeth W Brown, Psy.D., ABPP has maintained an independent clinical psychology practice since 1984, with licensure in New Jersey and Rhode Island. Dr. Brown is Board Certified as a Couple and Family Psychologist through the American Board of Professional Psychology and holds credentials as a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor through the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.

The practice concentrates on couples therapy, individual therapy, and family counseling. Multiple modalities are in active use: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt therapy, Sensorimotor therapy, EMDR, and AEDP. The breadth of these approaches reflects a practice designed to address a range of relational and individual concerns across the adult lifespan. Clients working with Dr. Brown have access to both relationally focused frameworks such as EFT and body-oriented or trauma-focused approaches such as Sensorimotor and EMDR within the same practice. Her co-direction of Brown Skean Seminars and the Hold Me Tight NJ workshop series also makes her work accessible to couples in a group psycho-educational format, separate from individual clinical services.

Dr. Brown serves as Co-Founder and Co-Director of an EFT couples clinic and co-directs Brown Skean Seminars, an organization offering psycho-educational workshops for couples under the title Hold Me Tight NJ. Her role as a clinical supervisor at Rutgers University is also listed, indicating ongoing involvement in training emerging clinicians.

Academic credentials include a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, an M.Ed. in Counseling from Boston University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Connecticut College.

Session delivery has transitioned primarily to telehealth. The site notes plans to resume in-person appointments in Rhode Island while continuing virtual sessions for New Jersey clients.
