Counseling Practice – Family Dynamics Counseling

Karen Larkin Packwood, MA, LMHC, LPC, CCTP, CCFN, founded Family Dynamics Counseling in Spokane Valley, Washington in 2011. The practice operates out of two suites at 112 N University Road (Building A, Suite 203 and Building B, Suite 315) and extends telehealth services to clients in Arizona, Idaho, and Washington. The multi-suite setup and extended weekly hours reflect the practice’s capacity to serve a broad regional client base across life stages and clinical needs.

Packwood employs an eclectic blend of evidence-based therapeutic techniques tailored to individual client needs. Modalities include Solution Focused Behavioral Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Client-Centered Therapy. The practice incorporates a holistic treatment perspective that addresses trauma’s effect on both mind and body, drawing on approaches that recognize the physiological dimensions of trauma alongside the psychological.

A wide range of presenting issues is addressed: addiction and recovery, ADD/ADHD, conflict resolution, couples counseling, depression and anxiety, eating disorders, family counseling, grief counseling, panic attacks and panic disorder, stress management, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trichotillomania, PTSD, and therapy for teens. Services are available for individuals, couples, and families.

Both in-person and telehealth session formats are offered. Office hours provide considerable scheduling flexibility: Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Sunday 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, including weekend availability.

Packwood holds professional affiliations including CCTP, NCC, NBCC, ACA, and CCFN, and maintains licensure in Arizona, Washington, and Idaho. This multi-state licensure supports seamless telehealth access for clients residing across state lines. The eclectic therapeutic approach, drawing from CBT, EMDR, SFBT, and Client-Centered modalities, allows Packwood to adapt treatment to the presenting issue and individual client style, rather than applying a single fixed protocol. This is relevant for clients presenting with overlapping concerns such as trauma alongside addiction or PTSD alongside family conflict.

The practice maintains a GoodTherapy profile for prospective clients seeking additional provider background and booking information.
