Counseling Center – Heart & Soul Community Counseling
Heart & Soul Community Counseling has served Long Island communities since 1994, with a presence spanning three office locations across New York State. The West Babylon office is at 609 Route 109, Suite 1C; the Wantagh office is at 1400 Wantagh Ave, Suite 104; and the East Quogue office is at 429 Montauk Hwy. Virtual therapy services extend the practice’s reach throughout New York State. The executive director is Tina Calabrese, and the clinical team includes licensed clinical social workers and nurse practitioners.
Services available at Heart & Soul include individual therapy, couples and marriage counseling, LGBTQIA+ and gender therapy, pharmacogenetic testing for medication management purposes, and telehealth. The practice states it has actively maintained a welcoming environment for the LGBTQIA+ community since 1996, well before such affirmations became common in clinical settings, and holds membership in WPATH, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. This affiliation supports the practice’s specialized work around gender identity and transition-related concerns.
Therapeutic approaches used at the practice include cognitive behavioral treatment and psychodrama. The range of presenting concerns addressed is broad: obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, autism-related issues, trauma, PTSD, gender and sexuality concerns, domestic abuse, grief and loss, co-dependency, and adolescent issues. Pharmacogenetic testing is offered as a specialized service to inform medication selection and management. The offices are noted as pet friendly, and Spanish language services are available.
Clients may access care in person at any of the three Long Island locations or via telehealth across New York State. New clients are required to complete an intake form before scheduling their first appointment; availability for appointments is noted as dependent on insurance coverage. The practice states it accepts insurance and works to accommodate clients regardless of available resources.
The practice’s multi-decade presence across Long Island reflects a sustained commitment to community mental health across a diverse and expansive service area.
