Counseling Practice – Healing Life Counseling, PLLC

Healing Life Counseling, PLLC was founded in summer 2021 by Allison Spencer, LCSW, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Purdue University and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Spencer serves as a Clinical Supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) and brings over 20 years of counseling experience to the practice. All counselors at Healing Life Counseling hold Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or Social Work with a minimum of two years of direct professional experience.

The practice serves children, teenagers, and adults across multiple Arizona locations: Mesa (Baseline and Val Vista; Baseline and Lindsay), Phoenix (Midtown and Biltmore), Scottsdale (Fashion Square), Tucson (Oracle Road and Ina Road), and Willcox. Telehealth and virtual session options are available in addition to in-person appointments.

Specialty areas span trauma and PTSD, including attachment trauma, childhood wounds, first responder concerns, critical incidents, and betrayal trauma. Anxiety services address social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic, OCD, and stress. Depression services cover mild to severe presentations, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. Additional specialties include neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and emotional dysregulation), grief and loss, relationship concerns (couples, family, friendships, and dating), school and career challenges, LGBTQIA+ concerns including gender dysphoria, transitioning support, and WPATH letter services, and addiction issues.

Treatment modalities at the practice include DBT, EMDR, CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman method for couples, play therapy, supportive talk therapy, suicide intervention and postvention work, attachment trauma approaches, and Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAT) processing.

The practice accepts private pay (noted at $150 per session), offers a sliding scale, and accepts out-of-network insurance benefits. A Teen DBT group is currently open to new members. The breadth of specialty coverage, spanning trauma subtypes, neurodivergence, LGBTQIA+ support, addiction, and specialized modalities such as KAT processing, reflects a practice designed to address complex and co-occurring presentations. The multi-site footprint across Arizona cities from Tucson to Phoenix to Scottsdale extends geographic access for clients across much of the state.
