Services span four program areas. Adult services support people with mental illness in building skills for greater independent living. Child and family services provide comprehensive evaluations, strategic interventions, and ongoing support for children and their families. Evidence-based services deliver short-term, skill-building interventions addressing a range of clinical concerns. Substance use services support adolescents, adults, and families throughout the recovery process.
Named treatment modalities include Strategic Family Therapy and the Nurtured Heart Approach. The practice philosophy holds that family interactions shape individual challenges and that sustained family involvement supports lasting, meaningful change across all service areas.
The organization was founded by Les and Laura Blondino. Long-tenured staff members include HR Manager Erika Eades, Cyndi Wallace, Caitlin Helm, and Misty Grossman, each with 15 or more years of service. Strategic Therapy Associates was voted the 2025 Best Counseling Agency in Lynchburg.
Insurance accepted includes Virginia Medicaid across all managed care organizations, Aetna Commercial, Anthem Commercial, Multiplan Commercial, Cigna/Evernorth Commercial, Sentara Commercial, and United Healthcare Commercial. State-contracted funding sources including CSA and DJJ are also accepted. An email contact form is available on the practice website for prospective clients and referral sources. The multi-site structure is designed to extend mental health and substance use services to communities across the broader Virginia region, reducing geographic barriers to care for residents in rural and suburban areas alike.
