Mental Health Practice – Valley Mental Health
Valley Mental Health is a licensed outpatient mental health clinic headquartered at 821 Saginaw Street South, Salem, Oregon 97301, with services extending across Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties. The clinic does not require a referral for new clients seeking services, and no initial referral paperwork is needed to schedule an appointment.
The clinical team includes 30 therapists and counselors holding credentials such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), and Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC). Six licensed medical providers and nine qualified mental health associates round out the staff. Medical providers hold MD or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) designations.
Therapy modalities available include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting, Play Therapy, Theraplay, Equine Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and trauma-informed care. Individual, group, couples, and family therapy formats are all offered. Medication management is a separate service line within the clinic.
Populations served span children, adolescents, transition-aged youth (ages 17 to 21), adults, and seniors. Specialty populations include individuals with developmental disabilities, foster care clients, those with severe and persistent mental illness, and LGBTQ+ community members. Gender identity and gender transition support are listed service areas. Culturally specific therapeutic approaches are also noted.
Telehealth appointments are available; clients must remain physically within Oregon during virtual sessions. Providers cannot prescribe medications to clients temporarily located out of state. Late arrivals of ten or more minutes may result in rescheduling.
Insurance accepted for therapy includes Blue Cross, Anthem, Regence, Medicare, MODA, Oregon Health Plan, Providence, and PacificSource. Medication management is covered by additional plans including Aetna, First Choice, UMR, Wellcare, and United Health Care. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
